Duties: | The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation for the R.C.M.P. Detachment by providing reliable performance in the care and custody of exhibits, observing the sensitivity of the position and complying with all acceptable security and safety practices.
The incumbent will be required to perform a variety of clerical, accounting and typing duties, varying in degree of complexity and responsibility; endorsing exhibit reports (C.246) recording the above movement, indicating on the form the bin or slot number, constantly monitoring exhibit files to ensure exhibits are being returned/destroyed promptly in accordance with established procedures; signing off all returned exhibits and property in the appropriate books. The incumbent will be responsible for the care and custody of all exhibits and property; removing exhibits from temporary holding lockers and placing in the Exhibit Room, assigning a "bin" or "slot" number in accordance with established procedures; turning over to the RCMP Members the exhibits they require for court, laboratory analysis, etc.; ensuring also that this movement is indicated on the Exhibit Report; turning over exhibits to persons other that Members of the Force as directed; removing and destroying liquor and other exhibits as directed; removing found property from temporary holding lockers and placing in the Main Exhibit Room or in the Bicycle Shed, comparing Lost and/or Stolen Bicycle List with Found Bicycle List and maintaining both up-to-date; returning found property as directed. The incumbent will perform other related duties as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor. |
Education: | Minimum Grade 12 education.
The successful candidate must qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position. Failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of the employee from the position. |
Skills: | - Able to perform simple mathematical computations/calculations;
- Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat and presentable in appearance; - Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with RCMP Members and other members of staff; - Sound knowledge of the practices and principles used in the care and custody of exhibits and property; - Able to lift heavy items. |
Salary: | $33.38 per hour (2024 rate) |
