Duties: The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation in the Finance Department through reliable performance in clerical and accounts receivable functions and complying with municipal policies, and statutory requirements, ensuring the safety and security of confidential material/matters pertaining to the Department's operation.

Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Services, the Accounts Receivable Clerk will perform a variety of clerical and collection functions varying in degree of complexity and responsibility. This position is responsible for performing all accounts receivable functions; generating and issuing invoices; posting and balancing payments, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing correspondence related to overdue accounts and answering inquiries or providing information to the public. This position will be responsible for the cash floats, issuing monies, receiving and balancing receipts and submitting required reports. The incumbent will assist with other functions of the Collections Department as required and will be responsible for the training and supervision of casual employees as assigned.

The incumbent in this class will normally work the standard work week of Monday to Friday within the hours specified and work overtime as required. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The incumbent will be responsible for performing tasks associated with Accounting Clerk "housekeeping" duties.
Education: -Must have grade 12 education supplemented by bookkeeping and accounting courses or a combination of experience and training.
Skills: - Good knowledge of the functions, practices and procedures, bylaws, policies and regulations pertainingto the operation of the Finance Department;

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Good knowledge of modern office practices and municipal accounting procedures and operations;

-Able to be polite, tactful and courteous in dealing with the public ;

-Able to perform mathematical and arithmetic computations efficiently and accurately

-Able to perform all tasks with a minimum of supervision;

-Good knowledge of the methods, practices and principles entailed in accounts receivable and cashiering functions;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials and other members of staff.
Salary: $33.26 per hour (2023 rate)
