Duties: The incumbent in this class will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the R.C.M.P. Community Police Office through reliable performance in staff supervision and clerical duties, observing and complying with Municipal and R.C.M.P. Policies and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the Detachment's operation.

The incumbent will be responsible for staff supervision and records functions of the R.C.M.P. Community Police Office; training and evaluating the performance of subordinates; assigning work to subordinates and monitoring to ensure satisfactory completion. The incumbent will be responsible for the quality assurance on operational files for compliance with R.C.M.P. policies and directives. The incumbent will process Pardon files as required and be responsible for Chilliwack Protected B files in compliance with policy and procedures. The incumbent will also liaise with Court Services, Crown and Police Agencies, Access to Information and Privacy Branch on requests in relation to operational files. The incumbent will be required to perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision according to established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Administration Manager.

The incumbent in this class will be required to work any consecutive five (5) days within the calendar week and conform to the hours of work as prescribed in published on shift schedules and on occasion, work overtime as authorized. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The incumbent will be responsible for performing tasks associated with clerical “housekeeping” duties.
Education: Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education plus a Degree in Criminology or Business Administration from a recognized post secondary institution supplemented by courses in supervision or the equivalent combination of training and experience; a minimum of 5 years experience working in a police environment.
Skills: -Must have sound knowledge of R.C.M.P. Informatics Manual, Operations Manual and Administrative Manual;

-Must have sound knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

-Must have sound knowledge of Law Enforcement Court procedures;

-Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;

-Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including the CPIC machine;

-Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat in appearance;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with R.C.M.P. Members and other members of staff;

-General knowledge and ability to type;

-Sound knowledge of methods, procedures, principles and practices used in records management;

-Able to maintain and control records and reports;

-Able to plan, direct and supervise the work of subordinates;

-Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position. Failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of that employee from the position.
Salary: $47.47 per hour (2023 rate)
