Duties: The incumbent will perform various clerical functions varying in degree of complexity and responsibility by performing all the associated duties of a Court Liaison/Quality Control Reader on a daily basis; coordinating, meeting and liaising with Provincial and Federal Crown Counsels, all Court services and personnel, Probation and Parole Departments, Department of National Defence, Sheriffs Department, RCMP members, RCMP support staff, municipal employees and the general public. The incumbent will review Crown documents for Court ensuring evidence on proposed changes are clearly articulated in the body of the Crown; providing instruction, direction and recommendations to RCMP members on the submission of reports to Crown Counsel; ensuring RCMP policy and procedures are followed; processing Crown documents in a timely manner and forwarding to Crown prosecutors. The incumbent will act as a Commission for Taking of Oaths for confirming affidavits of service and swearing information as required before a Justice of the Peace. The incumbent will be responsible for taking in fine monies at the Front Counter and turning over to Court Services for processing; reviewing incoming correspondence for the Courts, Crown Counsel and others, and ensuring the applicable files as appropriate are updated. The incumbent will be required to run the court dispositions on a daily basis ensuring operational files are updated and Ottawa is advised to update subjects Criminal Records. The incumbent will maintain the leave schedule for RCMP members on the court computer system allowing for the scheduling of Court cases by court personnel. The incumbent will ensure exhibit detention and retention forms are processed in a timely manner, maintaining a diary date system for further retention requests, completing notices on behalf of the prosecutor for further retention hearings; and arranging for the hearing dates and times and conducting the hearings, before a Justice of the Peace. The incumbent will be required to perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision according to established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor.
Education: 1 year post secondary studies in criminology
Skills: -Must have experience in Police criminal investigaton;

-Must have sound knowledge of Law Enforcement Court Procedures;

-Must have good knowledge of Federal, Provincial Statutes and Municipal Bylaws;

-Must be abel to obtain and maintain Peace Officer Status

-Must have a valid BC Drivers Licence;

-Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;

-Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat in appearance;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with Crown Prosecutors, Court Personnel, R.C.M.P. Members and other members of staff;

-General knowledge and ability to type;

-Sound knowledge of methods, procedures, principles and practices used in records management;

-Able to effectively maintain and control records and reports;

-Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position, failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of that employee from the position.
Salary: $35.86 (2023 Rate)
