Title: Public Service Counter Supervisor

Duties: The incumbent in this class will assist management to achieve an efficient operation for the RCMP Community Police Office through reliable performance in staff supervision, providing reliable performance in Firearm Information and investigative work, observing and complying with Municipal and R.C.M.P. policies and all acceptable security and safety practices. Providing staff supervision for all Front Counter staff, mailroom staff, Information Officer and the Finance Section.

The incumbent will be responsible for staff supervision and front counter functions of the R.C.M.P. Community Police Office; scheduling, training and evaluating the performance of subordinates; assigning work to subordinates and monitoring to ensure satisfactory completion. The incumbent will be required to process positive hit Police Information Checks, complete local indices checks for other jurisdiction requests, serve subpoenas and summonses, confirm Notice and Orders sign off on Police Certificates. Assist front counter staff with general information inquiries and complaints from the public and provide oversight for the differential call response. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision according to established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Manager, Police Finance and Administration.

The incumbent in this class will be required to work up to 40 hours per week as prescribed in published schedules and on occasion work overtime as authorized. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Education: -Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education plus a Degree in Criminology or Business Administration from a recognized post secondary institution supplemented by courses in supervision or the equivalent combination of training and experience; a minimum of 5 years experience working in a police environment.
Skills: -Sound knowledge of the National Firearms Manual, RCMP Informatics Manual, Operations Manual and Administration Manual;

- Sound knowledge of law enforcement/court procedures;

-Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;

- General knowledge and ability to type;

-Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat in appearance;

-Able to plan, direct and supervise the work of subordinates;

-Ability to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment and computer programs;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with Department officials and other members of staff, be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the general public and be neat and presentable in appearance;

-Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position. Failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of that employee from this position;

-The incumbent will be required to perform other related duties upon request of the Manager, Police Finance and Administration.

-Able to plan, direct and supervise the work of subordinates;
Salary: $47.47 per hour (2023 rate)
