Duties: The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve efficient operation of the Operations Department through reliable performance of Labourer I duties observing and complying with municipal policies and practices.

The incumbent in this class will be required to perform all non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties; cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, using manual tools, laying pipes, digging, etc. The incumbent will perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments are performed under general supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor III.

This seasonal opportunity is to support our Underground Utilities, Public Works, and Parks sections of the Operations Department. Your work experience and training in any of these areas will help determine which section you will be assigned to. This Time Duration role is expected to start in spring of 2019 and may last up to one year, but could be shorter based on Operational needs.

Education: Minimum of two (2) years experience in the labourer force - OR - an equivalent combination.

Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
Skills: - Able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other staff members;

- Able to recognize and rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards;

- Able to perform manual work and lift heavy objects;

- Working knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles and methods used in labourer work.

- Must be of good health to work outdoors regardless of weather.
Salary: $22.64 to $26.64 (2019 rates)
