Title: City/Speed Watch Worker (Time Duration - Full Time)
Department: Public Safety and Social Development Chilliwack RCMP
Duties: Under the direction of the Office Manager and the Manager of Police Finance and Administration, the incumbent will be a dynamic individual, responsible for the planning, coordination, operation and administration of the Chilliwack Crime Prevention Services’ Speed Watch and City Watch Programs. The incumbent will exercise considerable independent judgement, action and initiative within the mandate of the individual programs. The incumbent will be a forward thinker and be adaptable to changing or emerging program priorities.

Speed Watch
The incumbent will be responsible for setting up deployment areas for the Speed Watch program along with the coordination and scheduling of volunteers in partnership with the City of Chilliwack’s Safer City Program and ICBC. The incumbent will be required to prepare applicable reports and statistical information for external organizations (ICBC and RCMP) and monthly presentation to the Society Board. The incumbent will also be responsible for consistent communication with the Speed Watch volunteers and schedule group training and meetings as required.
City Watch.
The incumbent will be responsible for the scheduling of program volunteer patrol deployments and the dispatching duties for the City Watch program. The incumbent will be required to prepare applicable reports and statistical information for external organizations (RCMP) and monthly presentation to the Society Board. The incumbent will also be responsible for consistent communication with the City Watch volunteers and schedule group training and meetings as required.
Education: Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education plus post-secondary education in
Criminology or related discipline OR an equivalent combination of training and
experience
Skills: Must be able to obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance (RCMP)

Must have a valid BC Driver’s License

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Excellent leadership skills

Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other staff members volunteers and community partners

Ability to adapt to changing or emerging priorities

Ability to coordinate with community partners and external organizations

Ability to prepare concise reports and correspondence

Ability to maintain program equipment; keeping them updated and in working condition

Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computers and programs

Must be able to work flexible working hours with some hours in the evenings or weekends as required
Salary: $24.00 per hour (2022 Rate)
