Duties: The incumbent will perform a variety of receptionist, clerical and typing duties varying in degree of complexity and responsibility. The incumbent in this class also performs routine, non-complex clerical duties. The incumbent answers incoming calls through the switchboard, referring enquiries, complaints, etc., to the appropriate office; providing a variety of general information and assistance to the public over the telephone and at the receptionist counter. The incumbent will be required to type a variety of correspondence/forms from copies, rough drafts, dictaphones or by general instructions; file and maintain records, forms, cards and other related data associated with routine clerical works. The incumbent will be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision, in accordance with established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Human Resources Manager.

The incumbent in this class will normally work the standard work week of Monday to Friday, in accordance with the hours specified and on occasion perform overtime as authorized. The employee, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Employees shall be responsible for performing tasks associated with secretarial "housekeeping" duties.
Education: Post secondary courses in office practice, typing and secretarial training.
Skills: -Knowledgeable of the functions, methods, rules, procedures and regulations appropriate to the Clerk's Department activities;

-Good knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and able to do arithmetic calculations and computations;

-Good knowledge of modern business office practices and procedures;

-Able to type accurately;

-Able to perform clerical assignments with a minimum of supervision;

-Able to be polite, courteous and diplomatic in dealing with the public;

-Able to operate a variety of standard office equipment and the switchboard in a calm and efficient manner;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials and other members of staff.

Salary: $22.20 to $26.12 per hour (2018 Rates)
