Duties: The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation in the Corporate Services Department through reliable performance in stock and inventory control and record maintenance, observing and complying with municipal policies and safety practices. The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties varying in degree of complexity and responsibility in maintaining an effective storekeeping operation; ordering through the Purchasing Manager an adequate supply of stock and material for all departments of the municipality; maintaining manual and computerized accounting records (i.e. Kardex system, bin cards, job cost system, computerized inventory) posting of purchase orders, receiving documents and requisitions. Receiving and issuing supplies as requested by various departments; performing regular inventory checks, maintaining a clean and orderly stores area. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the shop, in the outside stores area, picking up and delivering, and with data entry duties in the Engineering Department as directed. The incumbent will also be required to serve as a First Aid Attendant as designated under the W.C.B.'s Occupational First Aid Regulations. The incumbent will be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision, in accordance with established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Purchasing Manager.
Education: Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education supplemented by formal training and courses in stock/inventory control - OR - an acceptable combination of training and experience Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence
Skills: Sound knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in receiving, issuing and storing of a variety of maintenance and construction supplies, materials and tools Good knowledge of accounting procedures as related to the storekeeping function Able to prepare and maintain accurate records for a variety of functions Able to use a calculator and possess data entry abilities Able to evaluate quantity, price and service factors and to assist departments with same as requested; Able to work with minimum supervision; Able to lift heavy objects Able to maintain an effective working relationship with other departments and staff of the municipality Able to communicate effectively, both in oral and written format
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The incumbent in this class will be required to work any consecutive five days within the hours of work as prescribed in published schedules and on occasion work overtime as authorized. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Salary: $23.17 - $27.25 ( 2013 Rates)
