Department: Operations
Duties: The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation in the Parks Services Section of the Operations Department through reliable work in general facility custodial and maintenance duties, observing and complying with municipal policies and recognized safety practices.

The purpose of this position is to assist the regular full-time staff in the provision of parks and recreation services to the general public, and under general supervision the incumbent will be required to and be responsible for light custodial and maintenance services in municipal parks and recreation facilities; performing minor cleaning tasks; light cleaning and servicing washrooms, dispensors, change rooms, and seating areas; emptying garbage barrels; litter pickup; the operation of pickup trucks; and performing flagging duties. The incumbent will perform other related duties as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor II.
Education: Must have a minimum of Grade 10 education
Skills: Able to understand verbal and written instructions in English, fill in simple forms, count, and perform addition and subtraction;

Should be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence;

Should be in possession of a valid Flagging Certificate;

Able to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public and be neat and presentable in appearance;

Must be able to demonstrate skill in the use of equipment and materials as provided; and,

Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials and the public.
Salary: $16.37/hr. (2015)
