Duties: GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve efficient operation of the Parks Section of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department through reliable performance of Labourer duties observing and complying with municipal policies and safety practices.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK:
The incumbent in this class will be required to perform all non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties; cutting grass with manual and mechanical equipment; repairing fences and parks equipment; cleaning grounds and refuse; digging, weeding and other non-skilled gardening tasks; performing general janitorial and maintenance duties; operating all equipment required for the performance of duties and performing other related duties as assigned. Assignments are performed under general supervision in accordance with established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Foreman II.
Education: Must have grade 8 education with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the labourer force - OR - a combination of training and experience;

Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence
Skills: Able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other staff members;
Able to recognize and rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards;
Able to perform manual work and lift heavy objects;
Working knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles and methods used in labourer work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The incumbent will work any five (5) consecutive days within the hours as prescribed in published shift schedules and on occasion work overtime as authorized. The incumbent must be of good health to work outdoors regardless of weather. The incumbent must wear safety equipment as appropriate to the performance of duties. The incumbent upon hiring will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Salary: $20.27 to 23.85 /hr (2013)
