Duties: GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The incumbent in this class will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the RCMP Detachment through reliable performance in clerical duties, observing and complying with municipal and RCMP policies and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the Detachment's operation.


NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK:

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in the records functions of the RCMP Detachment, including modification of file status, preparing and scoring files for data entry, and reviewing files for compliance with RCMP policies and directives. The incumbent will assist in maintaining statistics required for the Detachment and Headquarters, Ottawa; liaise with court clerks to verify legal documents and proceedings; maintain occurrence log and ensure the files are accounted for. The incumbent will supply clerical support as required. The incumbent will assist with ordering the necessary supplies for the records room and be responsible for ensuring file dockets are prepared and ready use daily in the radio room. The incumbent will be required to perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision according to established routine. Performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Court Referral Specialist.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The incumbent in this class will be required to work any consecutive five (5) days within the calendar week and conform to the hours of work as prescribed in published on shift schedules and on occasion, work overtime as authorized. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The incumbent will be responsible for performing tasks associated with clerical “housekeeping” duties.
Education: Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education in a commercial course supplemented by formal training in clerical courses or the equivalent combination of training and experience;
Skills: - Must have sound knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Charter of Rights and Freedoms;

- Must have sound knowledge of Law Enforcement court procedures;

- Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;

- Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment, including the CPIC machine;

- Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat in appearance;

- Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with RCMP members and other members of staff;

- General knowledge and ability to type;

- Sound knowledge of methods, procedures, principles and practices used in records management;

- Able to maintain and control records and reports;

- Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position. Failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of that employee from the position.

Salary: $37.08 per hour (2024 rate)
