Duties: | The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation at the Crime Free Multi Housing Program for the Chilliwack Crime Prevention office by providing reliable performance in all clerical and administrative duties, observing the sensitivity of the position and complying with all acceptable security and safety practices in accordance with municipal policies. The incumbent will be responsible in carrying out all areas of the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design program, including conducting assessments of properties, and providing information and support to community members.
The incumbent will perform a variety of typing and clerical work of moderate complexity and responsibility; in the administration of the Crime Free Multi-Housing program. The incumbent will be required to type/prepare documents, reports and correspondence/material pertaining to the Crime Free Multi Housing program. The incumbent will be involved in the day to day functions of the Crime Free Multi Housing; including the organization of property owners, working, attending meetings for various task forces and committees. The incumbent will be required to liase with various RCMP members, Community Organizations, property owners, and other Police Detachments. The incumbent will assist in the organization and promotion of RCMP Crime Prevention programs. The incumbent will be responsible in ensuring all needed materials and documents are organized and readily available. The incumbent in this class will be required to work up to 80 hours per pay period and conform to the hours of work as prescribed in published on shift schedules and on occasion, work overtime as authorized. The incumbent, upon hiring, will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The incumbent will be responsible for performing tasks associated with clerical “housekeeping” duties. |
Education: | -Must have a minimum of grade 12 education augmented by typing and commercial courses, post secondary education in Criminology or Social Sciences. - OR - an acceptable combination of education and experience; |
Skills: | -Must have a valid B.C. Driver’s License;
-Must have or be able to obtain the certification for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design; -Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a police agency or within the criminal justice systems; -Must have knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act, as it relates to the work -Sound knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation, knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. -Ability to prepare concise reports and correspondence -Good verbal and written communication skills -Able to be courteous, tactful and diplomatic in dealing with the public and be neat and presentable in appearance; -Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials and other members of staff; -Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position. Failure on the part of the employee to satisfy this requirement will necessitate the removal of that employee from the position. |
